Short bloodhouhd feature strong heroines, some mature content. However, one of Lionel’s men goes to Pearl and tells her that Beka has evidence that Pearl is the one behind the coles, and Beka is forced to flee once more.
I suggest it also because bloidhound the presence of one of the first instances I know, in YA fantasy, of a transgender woman. Did anyone else want to smack the Gentle Mother followers? I feel that Pierce’s books are not the kind of YA that you can continue enjoying into adulthood.
I do love that men and women are treated equally in Tortall. But now she’s teamed up with the renowned Dog Goodwin and an even more famous dog–a scent hound named Achoo.
As a DM who works hard in keeping his games balanced, I do not approve. So did Bloodhojnd betrayal, which felt like authorial fiat.
Kudos to Tamora Pierce, who has crafted this traditionally-difficult style with mastery, lending the story immediacy and high tension.
